About the Foundation

The Amost Better Life Foundation (ABLF) is a body corporate established in terms of its Constitution .

The acronym and shortened name of this Foundation is "ABLF"

ABLF is a body corporate, and as such it has perpetual succession continuing as a legal persona notwithstanding changes of membership within it. It is also entitled to acquire and own property of every nature and description, distinct and separate from its members and it shall be entitled to sue and/or be sued in its own name as an entity separate from its members. 

The Foundation was established to strive towards certain objectives which are set out below: 

  • The care or counseling of, or the provision of education programmes relating to, abandoned, abused, neglected, orphaned or homeless children. 
  • The care or counseling of poor and needy persons and persons in distress. 
  • The care or counseling of, or the provision of education programmes relating to, physically or mentally abused and traumatized persons.
  • The promotion or protection of family stability. 
  • Community development for poor and needy persons and anti-poverty initiatives, including the promotion of community-based projects relating to self-help, empowerment, capacity building, skills development or anti-poverty and the provision of training, support or assistance to the above mentioned community-based projects.  
  • The provision of health care services to poor and needy persons. 
  • The care or counseling of terminally ill persons or persons with a severe physical or mental disability, and the counseling of their families in this regard. 
  • The provision of legal services for poor and needy persons.
  • The training for unemployed persons with the purpose of enabling them to obtain employment. 
  • The training or education of persons with a severe physical or mental disability
  • To strive towards these objectives the Foundation accepts donations of any nature, being in cash or kind or through services rendered by well-doers.

The Foundation has set up a Fund which is managed and governed by trustees.

The Foundation's auditors are in the process of registering the Foundation as a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) with the Department of Social Development. The Foundation's Constitution was designed to meet the requirement s of the Model Constitution for Public Benefit Organisations as published by the Department of Social Development.

The Foundation's auditors have also applied with SARS that the Foundation be exempt from income tax and be authorised to issue Section 18A certificates in respect of donations received.
